A.R.T.S. MINISTRY AND STUDIO PERFORMANCES

Students are encouraged to be as active as possible. There are times when all are invited to be in A.R.T.S. Productions. But for some events that arise throughout the year students may be asked to be involved based on age, ability, numbers, etc.,

There are Three Annual productions

1. Christmas December: The Prince Christmas Production (Students in Step Lv 2 1/2 & Up enrolled in a Dance Repertoire or the Oct. Drama Repertoire and or the Christmas Class Shows (each class group will learn a number),
2. Spring Finale - May: (each class group will learn a number)
3. Three-week Summer Dance Camp Student Showcase. (each class group will learn a number)

Classroom

When students enter class they should be fully prepared for class: shoes on, hair fixed and ready to begin on time! Dancer’s belongings should be gathered into dance bags and taken into class and placed against a wall. DO NOT leave belongings in waiting rooms. They should, begin stretching and warming up without talking. Keep cell phones off during classes.

All of the above applies to anyone waiting or watching. There should be no noise or distractions.  Open classroom areas like Tumbling and Stage cannot have any distractions or interruptions which happens when view is allowed.
Viewing for Stage classes is inside of lobby through the glass doors, Viewing for Acro and Tumbling area is the waiting area in-between Studio A & B. Make sure younger children watching are quiet so the classes in these areas are not disturbed.

Parent/Teacher Communication

If it is necessary for a student or parent to talk to the teacher please write a note, E-mail artsinok@yahoo.com or call 313-7060, rather than take up class time.
Waiting Room You may wait in provided areas. Or you may prefer to stay in your car or run errands.  Parents and guests may observe class from the viewing windows. It is very important to maintain a quiet atmosphere and not distract a student or teacher’s attention from class!

Care of our Facilities: Food and drinks are limited to the student lounge areas and anything brought in should be cleaned up by students and parents so our building stays clean. If we find students abusing this they will have this privilege taken away.
Exceptions - water bottles may be brought into the studios. With students coming and going throughout the day we ask all to help keep the buildings neat & tidy: studios, bathrooms, waiting areas, etc.

We have water bottles, fresh fruits and snacks that are not too messy for sale in the office area. These may be purchased for $1 each. Many children write IOUs which is fine but we ask you to set that up with the desk attendant. And their charges will be added to your account and you will be billed by the end of the month or you may pay an amount for your child to use.

PARENT HELP

Safety for our Children - outside of class younger students should be with an adult. We ask students to stay in designated waiting areas, not roam the buildings or go outside unsupervised. (older and younger) Students should arrive and be picked up  from class and rehearsals on time and remain in the studio or waiting area until a parent comes to get them. If there’s a delay, please notify the studio administrator West  313-7060.

Our buildings should not be considered playgrounds. Students can do homework, watch other classes, watch TV dance dvds, play games and visit with each other. We do not want children left unattended for long periods of time. We are not staffed to monitor students and siblings outside of the classroom. We do have assistants in our younger student classes that make sure students who switch classes get to their next room.

Use caution as you enter, exit and park around our buildings. There are little people and big people that are difficult to see as you pull in, back up and circle our parking lots. We ask that you do not parallel park at the front of the building by the grassy area by the street. This makes that drive too narrow.

There are four handicap parking spots in front of the building and only two are necessary, so you may use the two at the North end of parking but please leave the other two open by our main entrance for those who need them - thanks.

Studio Communication

Parents and students should check the callboards for current notes and messages. A monthly newsletter and most updates are E-mailed to you. It is your responsibility to read and stay informed. Make sure you have the A.R.T.S. E-mail address, artsinok@yahoo.com programmed into your Internet address listings so that our mail does not go into your Spam.

We also try to keep our latest information posted on our Web site www.artsinok.com under Student News.

Absences

Please call 313-7060 or E-mail artsinok@yahoo.com if a student is unable to be in their scheduled class or rehearsal. Every effort should be made to attend. If they are unable to take their class or be at a rehearsal because of a minor ailment or injury, they benefit by coming and observing. When they miss they quickly fall behind and become discouraged. Privates may be necessary to catch up with their class.

Weather related Closings:

Check our calendar site for Holiday closings.  We observe Fall Break, Thanksgiving week, Christmas/New Year and Spring Break.

Classes will be canceled for severe weather according to Edmond Public School closings. There may be times that A.R.T.S. will opt. to do their own thing if the weather changes for the better or the worse. Either way, you will receive an E-mail notification if there is time.

Classes cancelled due to weather may be made up within two weeks in other similar classes & levels unless there are numerous days cancelled and then we will offer big group Sat. class makeups.

Registration

When you turn in your registration by phone, by mail, in person or online, your account is set up and you are placed in your selected classes. We plan our classes, notify our teachers and put classes on our schedules to begin, based on these registrations. If you fail to notify us of a change or cancellation before the first of the month, your account is charged according to your enrollment (monthly or the semi-annual plan). Proper notice before the first of the month is required to drop or change classes and payment is expected if this doesn't happen.

Tuition Payments
There are two payment plans. Both include a commitment to the full school year – 9 ½ months Aug. 22nd  2011– May 19th 2012. We start our classes based on enough enrollment and when students change or drop classes during the year it is hard on everyone if classes have to be cancelled. Exceptions may be made for illness, injury, a move or cancelled classes.

Two-Payment Plan – First payment first class in August and second payment first class in January.

(10% discount is given to Step Level student’s Step Level classes only). Any Ala Carte classes step level students are taking are already at our lowest rate & must be paid in the two-payment time table as well.

Nine 1/2 Month Payment Plan - school year tuition starts off with a half month tuition for August. The remaining months – Sept. – May are divided into 9 equal payments which are due the first class of the month. May tuition and all account charges must be made before the Spring Finale for students to perform!
Payments can be paid by credit card at our Web site, given to a secretary at the A.R.T.S. office desk or mailed to 2008 Mistletoe Court, Edmond 73034. If billing is necessary after the 10th, a $10 late fee will be added.

You also now have the option of setting up a monthly automatic pay.

Lost and Found – please mark all shoes and clothing!

Used Dancewear and many articles are left and go unclaimed. There will be announcements made for last chance claim. If you have used shoes, costumes or dancewear that you would like to donate.

Promotion
If a student progresses at approximately the same rate as their classmates they will be promoted at the same time. However, there are factors that may keep a student in a level longer or move another to the next level sooner: age, aptitude, years of quality training and natural abilities. If you’d like to discuss your child’s progress, you may E-mail or call your teacher.

Volunteers and Funding
Donations are welcome & needed to help with scholarships, equipment, costumes & production ministry.

We also rely on our wonderful volunteers. Everyone has a gift. Please pray about what you can do to help support this ministry’s outreach.
You’re investing in your kids as A.R.T.S. encourages them at a young age to use their talents to minister to others and be all God wants them to be!

Thank you for your support, cooperation and prayers!
