About Us

Vision

A.R.T.S. (Arts Revealing The Son) is a non-profit Christian performing arts outreach ministry to the church and community, with emphasis on the family. It provides a biblically based atmosphere for training in the arts. The arts are divine gifts meant to impact the world for the glory of God.
Students are taught that the body has many parts, no one less important than the other. The parts are intended to serve one another, not to bring honor to themselves. Jealousy and competition have no place in ministry.

Origin

A.R.T.S. encourages artistic expression and requires discipline and commitment. A.R.T.S. has been in existence for over 40 years under the direction of Katha Bardel. Katha has trained thousands of dancers and many are continuing in her footsteps. Katha is an accomplished dancer and choreographer who had her early training in Toledo, Ohio with Marie Vogt and at age 12 received advanced training with NYC Ballet soloists, Robert Lindgren and his wife Sonja Tyven in Phoenix, Arizona. When Katha was 17 she auditioned for George Balanchine and went to NYC to train at the New York City Ballet Company's School of American Ballet.

Katha believes in giving students opportunities to share their gifts to others.  She took students to perform at the Children’s International Dance Festival in China; premiered an original work of Dave Brubeck’s La Posada in Mexico City at the Palace of Fine Arts; choreographed and danced in Christmas specials in Branson Missouri at the Glenn Campbell Theater; and Sight n Sound Theater in Lancaster Pennsylvania and on the national TBN. She toured the U.S. dancing with concert pianist Dino Kartsonakis. Katha and her twin daughters performed in a nationwide TV musical series that aired for 3 years. Katha has been a soloist with Ballet Oklahoma and Lyric Theater providing students to church and civic groups. She has also served as Dance Director for productions at Metro Church, City Church, Cathedral of Praise and Crossing Community Church where numerous opportunities for performing and ministry have been a joyous experience for A.R.T.S. dancers. Recently students traveled with Katha and the Light The World Parade to London to dance on the streets announcing the coming of the Summer 2012 Olympics.

Opportunities

A.R.T.S. is the home base for Jeff & Natalie Lewis' International Arrows Ministry as they travel to foreign countries with workshops and street evangelism.

A.R.T.S. has a dance ensemble under the direction of Liz Kraft who is great vision for these young gifted and dedicated dancers.

A.R.T.S. is going into its 17th season of the Prince, a Christian modern day rendition of the Nutcracker. Students in our upper Step Level divisions are eligible to participate.  Auditions take place each year to fill the acting roles and choose solo dancing parts.

A.R.T.S. continues to offer the pro-life piece, Coram Deo, to youth groups, churches and schools under the direction of Sarah Shackford.  It is a powerful tool to express God’s concern for the unborn.
