Annual Winter Ball 2012
Friday night was the 12th Annual Winter Ball. We thank all that attended, sponsored a table, gave auction items, worked and performed! It was wonderful being with like minded people enjoying an elegant evening of fun with family and friends in a beautiful location with proceeds benefitting the A.R.T.S. Foundation.
Silent Auction Continues!
We had auction items left that will be on display at the studio in the lobby. Please take a look if you would like to bid. All proceeds go to the A.R.T.S. Foundation. The highest bidder on each item will be notified at the end of the week.
A.R.T.S. Severe Weather Closings
We were blessed with good weather in January and hopefully will see more of the same in February. However ifthe Edmond Public schools close because of severe weather A.R.T.S. will too. There have been times, because of changes for the better or worse, that we make our own decision. If this happens you will receive an E-mail notification.
Spring Finale
Teachers have started their Spring Finale numbers and are making costume plans. Most classes participating are now closed to new students. We will be dividing our classes into several different performances during May - see the attachment to this E-mail.
Aerial, Acro and Step Level 5 & up Ballet and Jazz classes will be held in the A.R.T.S. Performance Center at Coltrane and 2nd St. in Edmond Friday evening May 11th. There will be two shows that evening with the Step Level 5 & up Ballet and Jazz classes performing their numbers in both shows. Please choose one to attend and we ask that just the families and friends of these students attend so we will have ample seating. We love to watch our older students but most perform their Ala Carte numbers during the May 19th shows so you will get to watch them then.
All other classes will be performing in the Luther Auditorium Saturday May 19th. This schedule will be posted at A.R.T.S. and attached to this e-mail. Please notify us if your name is left off or misspelled & we will correct.
The family Spring Finale Fee of $50 should be paid by now. Families of those participating will check in at the door and receive 4 seats to our May 19th performances. Additional seats can be bought at the door for $10 Adult and $5 Child. (If you leave in-between performances you will need to be stamped in order to get back in).
Costume Info Online
We have set up a costume page on Facebook. We will be posting costume information and pictures on this page. Search for A.R.T.S. Costume Page on Facebook and request to be added as a member.
Costumes will be posted in documents under the teacher’s name. For example if you are searching for a costume for your child’s class you will click on Documents located under the title (A.R.T.S. Costume Page) and look for the teacher’s name. This is new and we currently have a couple of things listed, but we will be adding as teachers give us their info. You can also post questions there.

A.R.T.S. 17th Three week Summer Dance Camps
We will have two this year-June (Younger Beginner/Intermediate) & July (Older Intermediate/Advance)
June 11th – June 28th Ages 3-12yr Beginner & Intermediate Students A.R.T.S. offers a great experience during the summer for students to try multiple dance subjects at a discounted rate. The youngest students come twice each week and take 3 subjects each day, others come 3 to 4 times a week and cover 4-5 subjects and the oldest 4 times weekly. Those who are able to take at least two of the three weeks will perform in a Student Showcase.
July 9th - 26th (ages 12 and up) Intermediate and Advanced Levels will have their own Three Week Summer Intensive with Liz Kraft. A.R.T.S. is offering this camp for students who wish to advance to the next level. Dancers, like elite athletes should never stop for long periods of time. Intermediate & Advanced students will excel during the 3 weeks of training that will be comparable to 3 months. Intermediate will dance 2 1/2 hours 4 days a week and Advanced will dance 4 hours, 4 days a week. They will be introduced to advanced subjects with challenging work! Students will grow body, soul and spirit as Liz introduces and teaches them excerpts from the great classic ballet, Swan Lake and she will spend time with them daily focusing on God's word. They will have a program the last day to show parents and friends what they have accomplished.
Plans will be solidified and sent out this month with early registration beginning March 1st. Mark your calendars for your child as you are planning their summer.
Help with Tuition
Older level students 5, 6 and 7 that want to enroll for the July Camp may apply to work during the June SDC.Those selected will be trained as student teachers and assistants before the camp begins in a two day workshop with Katha - n/c. Please pick up an application at the desk if you would like this opportunity to earn money to help with your tuition for the July Classical Intensive. There will only be a few selected so get your application in asap. Careful consideration will be given to character, experience, ability and teacher recommendations.
Prince Workshop/Auditions
We will finish off the summer with a workshop to teach and select solos for our annual Christmas Production of The Prince. Last year we had to do this with private classes during the school year which was expensive and difficult to find times with everyone's full schedules. These early group training sessions followed by auditions at the end of the workshop will make it easier on all and we will be prepared for Prince 2012.
Much Love from God Above,
"Miss" Katha
